Bob has been involved in many government and community activities for the past
several years.
He feels strongly that community organizations are a
vital part of making and keeping our neighborhoods and our city strong and
healthy.
Bob was a board member of United Neighborhoods of Santa Clara County from 2003
to 2004.
Since 2001, he has been an activist for the McLaughlin Corridor Neighborhood
Association.
In 1999, Bob served as a member of the Committee for Building Futures at East
Side Union High School District.
Bob has long been an active Democrat.
He is a delegate to the State Democratic Party from Assembly District 23 and a
member of the Santa
Clara County Democratic Central Committee.
Bob founded the American Sikh Association and the Sikh American Democratic Club,
and he has been a member since 1997.
He founded the Sikh Gurdwara of San Jose in 1985, and he has been the Vice
President since 2002.
From 1997 to 2001, he was a member of the Berryessa Citizens Advisory Council,
and he served as the Vice President of the council in 1999.
From 1999 to 2001, he was a member of the East Side Union High School
District Bond Oversight Committee.
Bob is a member of the Berryessa Union School District Superintendent Selection
Committee.
And in 2000, he served on the Berryessa Union School District Excess Land
Disposition Committee.
From 1990 to 1992, Bob worked as a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America.
Bob knows that active citizen participation is a key to having local government
be successful in providing the services that the community needs.
Since 2000, he has been a member of the San Jose City Planning
Commission, and he has been the Vice Chair since 2004.
Bob has been a member of the City of San Jose CAP Grant Committee since 2004.
From 2000 to 2004, he was a member of the Airport Curfew Monitoring Committee.
He has been a member of the Independent Police Auditor Focus Group since 1999.
In 2000, Bob served as the Government Relations Committee Chairperson of the
Santa Clara County Association of Realtors.
He was a member of the Santa Clara County Association of Realtors BORPAC from
1999 to 2001.
